Summer Term 2010 - Foundation
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back. I hope you all have had an enjoyable Easter break.
The topic for this term is:
- Sealife
We will again be covering all six areas of the Foundation Curriculum through this topic. We will continue to have the 'Topic' table for your child to bring in something from home to share with the class. I will send a note home to tell you what area of the topic we are working on so your child can bring in something relevant for the table.
Can I please remind you that any other toys apart from ones requested should not be bought into school.
Reception
For Literacy your child will continue working with the phonics through the Jolly Phonic scheme and Schofield and Sims workbooks. Every week we will be working with a new letter sound. We will be making a letter 'sound' table and I will send a note home every Friday to inform you on the letter sound for the following week, for your child to bring in something from home to share with the class and display for the week.
Please can you help and support your child to do the 'homework' book every weekend The 'homework' will be sent out on a Friday and should be returned on the Monday for us to share as a class.
This term your child will continue to be bring home a book on a Friday to share with you, When your child is ready they will bring home an 'early reader' book with 'first words'. Your child will be familiar with these books and would've shared them as a class and read individually with me. All reading books should be returned on the following Monday please.
For Numeracy work your child will continue to use the Schofield and Sims scheme.
Nursery
For Literacy and Numeracy your child will continue to follow the Schofield and Sims schemes.
ALL
We will be continuing with 'Happy Star' Please can I remind you that the 'stars' be returned on the Monday as they are a very important part of the classroom and curriculum. The book returned no later than the Thursday morning. We share these books with the class so it is important we have the book in the morning to give us time to do this before it goes to the next child.
Please can I remind you that it is important for your child to have a complete set of spare clothes in school; These need to be changed regularly, when the weather changes and as your child grows! Also if you child uses the spare clothes please replace them the next day.
Please can you provide your child with two 'Calpe' babi's as we will be sending home 'babis' home during the week if we feel necessary for hygienic reasons, therefore if your child brings home their 'babi' it's because it is dirty so please send in a clean one the next day. The 'babis' will always be sent home on a Friday or before a 'holiday'.
I would like to remind you that School begins promptly at 09.10am and finishes at 4pm. Please bring and collect your child promptly as late arrivals and collections can be very upsetting for your child and are disruptive to the whole class. If your child is not attending for any reason please inform the office as soon as possible. If someone else who is unknown to us is collecting your child, please contact the office. The school must at all times know who they are handing custody over to.
Physical Eeducation (P.E)
Your child will have Physical Education on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On these days your child needs to come dressed in their school P.E. kit and sport shoes without laces (Velcro please). The sports kit and trainers should be clearly labelled with your child's name. Long hair must be tied back at all times.
School Uniform
As you are aware all children must wear the correct full School Uniform at all times. Please ensure that all times of school uniform is clearly labelled with your child’s name. So many items are mislaid on a daily basis. Much time is taken up trying to return these items to their owners. The problem is that many items of clothing are unnamed.
Children should wear School Logo Fleeces or navy blue Jackets/Coats. Shoes should be black or navy blue with Velcro (no laces please). Long hair must be tied back at all times (blue hair accessories only)
Snacks
All children should bring a snack, for morning break. A snack might include a piece of fruit, a sandwich, plain cake or a savoury biscuit. Please do not send in chocolate, crisps or sweets in line with our healthy eating policy. Chewing gum is banned at Calpe School.
If you have any queries/concerns please feel free to speak to me, after school is preferable, and once the children have been collected. For longer discussion time, please make an appointment either with myself or with our secretary Miss Laura in the office. Please do not feel you have to wait for a parents evening.
Many Thanks
Miss Tracy
