Feel the Force

As part of their Year 5 & 6 Science topic on Forces this half-term, they were learning about water resistance. They discussed how boats and fish tend to have a distinctive shape to be more streamlined - this helps them move easier through the water. They used plasticine to see if they could find out which shape they could make that would travel through the water the fastest and which would travel the slowest. As this was a fair test they made sure to keep all other variables the same! They found out that the best shape would be cone-like (with the tip facing towards the water) and the worst was a cube. Suppose that's why you don't see too many cube-shaped fish
