Jack and the Beanstalk
Once upon a time…..
Reception’s new topic this half term is Fairy tales. The first story they shared was ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’ In Literacy they sequenced pictures to retell the story and labelled the characters. In Maths they made double number sentences using beanstalks made from interlocking cubes. During their free play they used the cubes to measure the length of different sized beanstalks and enjoyed reading the story together. They also made castle pictures using shapes and acted out the story using the castle and character puppets. In creative time they painted beanstalks and added leaves using their finger prints. They also coloured in and cut out spiral beanstalks and added paper leaves. They talked about other plants and flowers that grow very tall and copied the famous artist Vincent van Gogh's 'Sunflowers' painting using pastels. What a busy first day back!
