Ancient Egyptian mummification is a fascinating process which Year 3 children have been learning about. They decided to investigate by mummifying an apple to recreate the steps they have learned in class and see if it will preserve the fruit well. After cleaning the apple and removing the core, they dried it and made a mixture of salt and bicarbonate soda to stir the apple in. They wrapped the apple slice in bandages and prepare a test apple slice to compare it to. Children are excited for the results which should be visible in a couple weeks! They have made predictions about what they think might happen and will report back on their experiment shortly.
