My Fave Food!

In Literacy Reception shared the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and drew and labelled their favourite meal. In Maths they played a 'one more than' game using food from the Very Hungry Caterpillar story. During their free play they cut out pictures of their favourite food from magazines and stuck them to a plate template. They practiced recognising their sounds using fried eggs and played a game with dice, adding sprinkles to doughnuts inside the classroom and apples to trees outside. They also enjoyed exploring their new Very Hungry Caterpillar Café role play area. They took on the roles of the cooks, waiters and customers. They even decorated it themselves with pictures of the food from the story. In Creative time they printed with fruit and vegetables and paint on a huge sheet of paper on the wall. They also brought in traditional food from their home country to share during their food tasting morning.
