Reception class are practising their reading skills every day in different ways. Every morning they use their sounds to read the 'Password' before they can enter the classroom to put their book bags away. Then, throughout the morning, the children each read the Question of the Day and write their name in the 'yes' or 'no' column. This helps them to practice writing their name and learn to recognise and read many 'tricky' words and words which contain the sounds they are learning in class. The pupils can then see how many children are in school that day by adding the number of names in the two columns together. The children also enjoy using magnifying glasses to read tiny 'tricky' words on different animal scenes and writing them on whiteboards. This also helps with their spelling. Well done Reception!
