The Gingerbread Man

The next story in Reception’s ‘Once upon a time’ topic was ‘The Gingerbread man’. The children stuck the pictures in the correct order to retell the story, made ‘taking away’ number sentences by feeding gingerbread men to the fox, read ‘tricky words’ on gingerbread men and copied them onto rainbows and wrote them in flour with sticks and paintbrushes. They had fun drawing round one of the children to create a giant gingerbread man which they decorated. They printed with gingerbread men cookie cutters and paint, designed their own gingerbread men and made split pin gingerbread men too. They also tasted gingerbread biscuits!
