There's a Rumble in the Jungle...

Updated: Feb 15, 2021

As part of their 'Amazing Animals' topic, Reception are exploring a series of books by Giles Andreae. During the first week of term, they read 'Mad about Dinosaurs' and enjoyed a dinosaur week. The following week they read 'Rumble in the Jungle'. The class focused on one jungle animal in particular - the tiger! They read the story 'The tiger who came to tea' and enjoyed role-playing with a tea set and a toy tiger outside. The children also copied the famous painting 'Tiger in a tropical storm (Surprised)' by Henri Rousseau. They painted the jungle background first and then added the tiger. They played A Monkey Climbing A Tree (counting game) and spotted lots of jungle animals around the playground too. They drew each animal on a recording sheet and used their sounds to label them. During Music time, the children used instruments to make different jungle animal noises while they sang the song 'Noisy Jungle' .What a busy week! Which book will they read next? Watch this space......
