Up, Up and Away!

During Reception’s ‘In the air’ theme they shared the story ‘Ali and the magic carpet’ in Literacy, about a boy who travels to different places. They wrote their own version of the story choosing 3 different locations. In Maths they used the Numicon shapes to make teen numbers and numbers beyond 20. They further explored numbers during their free play by playing a 100 square race game. They also made magic carpets from boxes and pretended to fly to different places on them and decorated magic lamps and thought about what they would wish for. During Creative Time they made their own airplanes and had a competition to see whose flew the furthest. They also made their own magic carpets and prince and princess crowns.
