Wonderful Winter
Reception started their new topic ‘Wonderful Winter’ by exploring the seasons. They talked about the weather and what they see in the world around them in each season. During their half term holiday they collected ‘Autumn treasures’ to show the class. They put them in a large tray and hid numbered leaves inside to find and order. They coloured and cut out autumn leaves to decorate the classroom and coloured 4 trees to represent the 4 seasons. They also learnt about the different festivals that were celebrated in different countries in the beginning of November: Day of the Dead, Bonfire night and Diwali. They decorated sugar skull templates and made ‘papel picado’ bunting; worked together to make a huge firework picture by printing with different items and paint, and coloured their own Henna tattoos and decorated Diva lamps.
